Where water looks after you!

Nestled in the heart of the Hautes-Pyrénées, Luz-Saint-Sauveur has been renowned for the quality of its thermal waters since the 19th century. Treat yourself to a break filled with relaxation and wellbeing in an exceptional natural setting. With a combination of spa treatments, relaxation and panoramic views of the Pyrenees, let yourself be swept away by a unique, rejuvenating experience at the foot of the mighty peaks.

LA HOUNTALADE AND ITS SULPHUR-RICH WATERS

A small, historic spa complex conceals a spring that gushes forth just a few steps from the current thermal baths: the Hountalade. The sulphurous sodium-rich waters of Saint-Sauveur originate from the Cauterets granite massif.
The water seeps into the cracks in the granite of the Ardiden region and, after flowing at a depth of 5 km, rises to the surface, passing through ancient limestone beds along the major faults.

THERMAL SPRINGS AND THEIR HEALTH BENEFITS

Heated deep within the earth and drawn from a depth of 30 metres beneath the establishment, the thermal water of Luz-Saint-Sauveur retains all its properties as it resurfaces unaltered as a hot spring at 33°. Rich in sulphur and barégine, it soothes, heals and regenerates the skin and mucous membranes. Sulphurous waters have been shown to have a beneficial effect on respiratory and ENT conditions, venous and lymphatic disorders, and gynaecological pain.

ZOOM ON the Pragnères power station

The Pragnères centre offers an immersive experience at the heart of hydroelectric power in the Pyrenees. Through modern, interactive exhibition spaces, visitors learn how dams work, their role in renewable energy production, and the history of the valley’s major hydroelectric projects.

The virtual reality tour offers a spectacular experience accessible to all: equipped with an immersive headset, visitors can explore the interior of the dams and technical facilities that are usually closed to the public. This unique exploration combines scientific discovery, industrial heritage and immersive experiences to provide a better understanding of the challenges facing hydropower.
