1Bernazau ski run
  • Park in the hairpin bend just before the junction and the end of the Bernazau country lane.

2Bernazau Valley
  • From the end of the track, take the path that climbs to the left; at the second hairpin bend, turn left and continue along the hillside towards the south-west.
The path overlooks some barns before beginning a long climb up the western flank of the Bernazau valley.

3Coueyla-Gran Plateau
  • Leads out onto the Pla de Coueyla-Gran.
Cross it, keeping to the left, and continue the climb southwards.
You’ll reach the hut (2,031 m – shelter) and Lac de Lagues.

4Lakes Lagues and Cantet
  • Go round the lake to the right, crossing its spillway, and continue southwards along the left bank.
The climb, which starts off gently, becomes increasingly steep, leading to Lac de Cantet at the top of the escarpment.

5Lakes Herrat, Casdabat and Grand d’Ardiden
  • Continue southwards, skirting Lakes Herrat and Casdabat through a chaotic maze.
Climb over a small ridge to the south-west to reach the Grand d’Ardiden Lake (2,434 m).

5Arrival
  • The return journey follows the same route.

It is recommended that you use the services of a mountain professional (guide or leader) when hiking this summer route (to be undertaken when there is no snow).
