Experience it for yourself Road trip starting from Luz

  • We set off in the morning from Luz-Saint-Sauveur for the Cirque de Gavarnie (19.6 km). We park our motorbike in the designated car park next to the Tourist Office. After a short walk along the path to the Cirque, we take a moment to marvel at the snow-capped peaks whilst enjoying lunch on one of the village terraces.

  • We then set off again towards Gèdre, then on to the Cirque d’Estaubé and the Gloriettes dam, a lake situated at an altitude of 1,668 metres (14.5 km). Starting from the dam car park, a lovely circular walk takes you round the lake in under an hour – make sure you wear walking shoes.
Return to the village of Luz-Saint-Sauveur for a relaxing break at the Luzéa spa or with a massage on a water bed (treatments must be booked in advance).
At the end of the day, settle down on a terrace to enjoy local drinks and linger a while in one of the village’s many restaurants.

We continue our climb towards the resort of Luz Ardiden, where we can admire the Pic de Caperette and the sheep on the Aulian side of the resort. On the way down, a stop in the pretty, flower-filled village of Grust is a must, to admire the charm of the hilltop villages of the Pyrenees and the sweeping views over the valley.

Midday: lunch on a sunny terrace in the centre of the village of Luz-Saint-Sauveur – Motorcycle parking opposite the Tourist Office

  • After a good break to let our food settle, we’ll set off again towards the Col du Tourmalet – a photographer will be waiting at the summit of the Col du Tourmalet to capture this wonderful moment.
We continue our journey on the La Mongie side to take the cable car up to the Pic du Midi and enjoy a night at the summit to admire the starry sky – this night’s accommodation must be booked well in advance
